The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza was founded in 1989 and is located on the sixth and seventh floors of the former Texas School Book Depository, located in downtown Dallas.
The Texas School Book Depository became the primary crime scene for the assassination of President Kennedy after evidence of a sniper was found on the sixth floor of the building. A Depository employee, Lee Harvey Oswald, was arrested for the murder of a Dallas police officer within 80 minutes of the Kennedy assassination, and later charged with the assassination of the president.
