Profiles in Courage, written by then-junior Senator Kennedy, won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography in 1957.

Kennedy's title highlights eight courageous U.S. senators, including Sam Houston of Texas.

Following his defeat in the 1960 presidential election, Vice President Richard Nixon was inspired by this book to write a similar volume, Six Crises (1962), which explored six major political situations, all involving Nixon.

Along with vintage photographs and extensive author biography, this book features Kennedy's correspondence about the project, contemporary reviews, and a letter from Ernest Hemingway.

This hardcover edition features the original 1955 cover design and includes an introduction by Kennedy’s daughter Caroline Kennedy and foreword written by Kennedy’s brother Robert F. Kennedy.
