New York native Danny Lyon is a noted photojournalist and filmmaker who was part of the New Journalism movement in the 1960s and 1970s. As the staff photographer for the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) from 1962 to 1964, Lyon covered several key moments of the Civil Rights Movement, including the March on Washington. His photographic memoir, Memories of the Southern Civil Rights Movement, chronicles his remarkable experiences across the South through words, documents, correspondence and nearly 200 black and white photographs.

Originally published in 1992, this commemorative autographed edition features an Afterword by the late U.S. Congressman John Lewis.
