A longtime public relations and political consultant, Julian Read was press aide to Texas Governor John Connally in 1963. Traveling with the presidential party in Fort Worth and Dallas, Read was aboard a White House Press bus in the motorcade when he heard shots fired in Dealey Plaza. He gave media briefings at Parkland Memorial Hospital and remained close to the Connallys throughout the ordeal.
This 2013 memoir on the assassination includes a chapter about The Sixth Floor Museum and features several photographs from our Collection. Julian Read, who passed away in May 2021, was a good friend to the Museum, participating in several oral histories and public programs over the years. Three of his appearances may be viewed in full on the Museum’s YouTube channel.
